Rosies’ Girls , a summer day camp for girls entering grades 6-8, is sponsored through Vermont Works for Women. Since it’s inception in 2000, these camps have been offered in several locations around Vermont, as well as a few other states. The program helps girls develop and strengthen capabilities and confidence through the exploration of non-traditional career opportunities, the challenging of media messages towards women and girls, as well as team building activities. Rosies’ Girls, in partnership with the Windham Regional Career Center, was offered in Brattleboro from 2007-2010. I feel honored to have been a part of this unique and inspiring program as the woodworking/carpentry instructor in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
